JES is a multi-featured hybrid MTA/MDA/POP3 server written in the java programming language.

- Modular design
- Secure socket connections: TLSv1, SSLv3
- Authentication mechanisms: SASL PLAIN, LOGIN, DIGEST-MD5, GSSAPI
- Connectivity to amavisd-new for spam control
- Use of either the filesystem or an internal relational database to store domains/users/realms

- Use of dns whitelists/blacklists
- Support for the 8BITMIME and SIZE SMTP extensions
- Runs on linux and windows
